Patient’s Safety

Al Hayah Medical International Center is keen on patient safety by applying patient safety standards that aim to prevent harm or injury to patients during the medical care period. Patients’ safety at our medical center involves creating an environment that minimizes the risk of adverse effects or medical malpractice and ensures that patients receive safe and effective care.

  • Medication safety:

The center follows specific policies to ensure safe prescribing, dispensing, and administration of medications, informing patients of potential side effects and how to take their medication correctly. Examples of measures taken regarding medication safety include:

  • Healthcare providers receive medication safety education and training, including the proper use and administration of medications
  • Patients are informed about their medication, including the name of the medication, its intended purpose, potential side effects, and how to take the medication properly

  • Infection control

Al Hayah Medical International Center applies important international standards to prevent and control the spread of infection in healthcare centers, such as hand hygiene, sterilization of equipment, isolation of patients with infectious diseases, wearing protective clothing when caring for patients with infectious diseases, cleaning and disinfecting surfaces and equipment regularly,  and monitoring how to safely dispose of waste to prevent the spread of infection.

  • Safety during surgeries

Safety during surgeries is an important aspect of patients’ safety, so we always follow different protocols and measures to prevent surgical malpractice and complications.  Some examples of safety measures during surgeries include:

  • Preoperative verification of the patient’s identity, surgical site, and planned procedure
  • The surgical team implements infection prevention and control measures during and after surgery such as the use of sterile techniques
  • The patient is closely monitored after surgery for any complications, such as bleeding or infection, and appropriate interventions are performed if necessary

  • Communication:

The center is keen on clear and effective communication between healthcare providers, patients, and their families to prevent misunderstandings and malpractice.

  • Patient identification

Some mechanisms are implemented to verify the identity of patients such as the use of wrist straps, to prevent medication errors and other types of errors.

  • Employee training

The necessary training is provided to healthcare personnel to ensure that they have the necessary knowledge and skills to provide safe and effective care to patients.

  • Fall Prevention

Care is taken to identify patients at risk of falling and to implement specific fall prevention measures such as the use of bed rails and assistance when walking.
